The terms, in plain words.

Using Ply

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download Ply and use it on Macs you own or control, in line with these terms. Capturing thoughts, tasks and reminders yourself is free. You may not copy, resell, or reverse engineer Ply except where the law allows it, or use it to break the law or harm others.

Your content

What you capture in Ply is yours. It’s stored on your Mac, and we don’t claim any rights to it. You’re responsible for what you capture and for keeping your own backups; Ply can export everything as Markdown or JSON. Our Privacy Policy explains what leaves your Mac and when.

Ply AI

Ply AI lets you talk to Ply to add notes and tasks, set reminders, save the page or file you’re on, and ask about what you’ve captured. Requests are processed by OpenAI on our behalf. When you use Ply AI:

• Replies are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important, like the time of a reminder, before relying on it.
• Don’t use Ply AI to create anything illegal or harmful, to break OpenAI’s usage policies, or to get around usage limits, for example by restarting the free trial.
• We may limit or suspend Ply AI for a device that abuses it.

Free trial and Ply Pro

• Free trial. You can start a 7-day free trial of Ply Pro from the app. You won’t be charged during the trial. If you don’t cancel before it ends, your subscription starts and your first payment is taken.
• Ply Pro costs $4.99 a month (plus any sales tax or VAT, shown at checkout) and covers one Mac. It renews automatically each month until you cancel. Your license key lets you move Pro to another Mac.
• Cancelling. You can cancel anytime from Ply’s Settings, from the link in your Paddle receipt, or by writing to us. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
• Owning Ply through Pro. Ply Pro includes the full app. Once you’ve paid for 3 months of Ply Pro, Ply is yours to keep, the same as buying it once, even if you cancel Pro later. If you cancel before then, you go back to the free version, up to 5 places. Ply AI still needs an active Ply Pro subscription.
• Price changes. If the price changes, we’ll tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next billing period. You can cancel before then.

Everything else in Ply, including capturing, tasks, reminders, search and export, keeps working without Ply Pro.

Payments through Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms.

Refunds

Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. The free trial is there so you can decide before you pay. See our Refund Policy.

Updates and availability

We improve Ply over time and may add, change or remove features. Ply needs a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 or later. We work to keep Ply AI available, but it depends on the internet and on our providers, so we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.

Disclaimer

Ply is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by contract.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of Ply. Our total liability for any claim relating to Ply is limited to the amount you paid us for Ply Pro in the 12 months before the claim. This doesn’t limit liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Ply at any time by deleting it and cancelling any subscription. We may suspend or end your access to Ply AI or Ply Pro if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here with a new date, and tell you in advance about significant changes. If you keep using Ply after they take effect, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where we are established, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
